Fate Rising is technically "Season 2" of the overall Leyward Stones series, and has cameos and callbacks to the first Season of the series, so Ireaders will get the most enjoyment out of it if they've already read the first completed Leyward Stones trilogy (which starts with Macchiatos, Faerie Princes, & Other Things That Happen at Midnight).  HOWEVER, you do not *have* to have read the original three books in order to read this serial... it has its own story arc with new main characters, and can stand on its own!
